Do I need to wear a motorcycle helmet in Maryland?
Currently, 19 states and the District of Columbia require all motorcycle riders to wear a helmet. So yes, you do need to wear a motorcycle helmet in Maryland by law.
This law has been in effect since 1992 and requires that all riders have an approved helmet. The state also has a law regarding low-power cycles. Any low-power cycle that has an engine displacement over 50cc and can go faster than 30mph is subject to the helmet law.
