The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and there is tons of fun and exciting things to do in the Baltimore area! The Fourth of July is America’s day, and showing off your patriotism is one of the best ways to celebrate this great day. So fire up the grill, invite the family over, and resist all urges to set off fireworks this year! Yes, unfortunately, backyard fireworks are still illegal in the state of Maryland, even transporting fireworks through Maryland to a “firework free” zone is illegal. But even if you can’t set off your own fireworks, there are a few places you can go to watch some fantastic fireworks.
First and foremost, visit the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. There will be music playing in the harbor by the U.S. Navy Band starting at 7 p.m. in Inner Harbor Amphitheatre. Also, there will be water cruises by Spirit Cruises that will take you and yours through the harbor and enjoy the night on the water. And of course, to wrap up the night is the multi-color firework display at 9:30 pm, which will be coordinated with patriotic music. What more could you ask for?
You don’t have to go into the city to enjoy 4th of July celebrations. One other great firework display that is very popular, is the Annapolis fireworks. Before they start the show, there is an annual parade that starts at 6:30 pm which will end up making it’s way down Main Street to end the parade. And what would a celebration be in Annapolis without involving the U.S. Naval Academy? The Naval Academy concert band will play at Susan Campbell Park at 8 pm. And then finally, the 4th of July Fireworks display will begin at 9:15 pm to begin the evening.
And lastly, let’s talk about our beloved Dundalk celebration. This will be the 83rd annual Dundalk 4th of July parade that will begin early Tuesday morning at 8:15 am. It will have the notable theme of, “Dundalk - Our Patriotic Town” Enjoy the town of the Dundalk the rest of the day with your friends and family, but don’t miss the fireworks, starting at 9:15 pm at the North Point Government Center/Grange Elementary
